Raw Milk in
Central Florida
Looking for raw milk in the Central Florida area? If you are
in the Central Florida area (near Eustis, Mount Dora, Umatilla,
Apopka, etc), contact pointerspoint@gmail.com for
raw cow milk availability. Milk is from Guernsey and
Brown Swiss dairy cows and there is generally plenty of
extra raw milk (sold for pet/animal consumption only as per
state law). Located about 40 minutes north of Orlando, about 20
minutes west of Deland, about 30 minutes from Altamonte
Springs.
The cows are healthy, mostly grass fed, very minimal
grain (a small scoop) at milking time. No hormones of any sort,
and no pesticides. Antibiotics would only be used as a last
resort. Milk is cooled immediately and placed into glass jars
or plastic jugs.
The Brown Swiss breed is one of the oldest dairy breeds
(many say the oldest) and is second only behind the Guernsey as
far as carrying the A2 beta casein protein. If you are
unfamiliar with the benefits of
A1 versus A2 milk, do read up on it. This is something
anyone who drinks milk should be aware of, and the commercial
dairies will not be enlightening you any time soon.
Brown Swiss cows give wonderful sweet milk with a good
butterfat content. This breed is well known for its large size,
docile and friendly temperament, and big furry ears.
The Guernsey is becoming a rare breed and harder to find in
many areas. It is a shame as they are such nice cows, very
loving and docile. They also give sweet, rich golden milk that
is high in beta carotene, a known cancer fighter. Almost all
Guernsey milk is A2.
Regardless of whether you live in the area or not, if you
ever have a chance to try Guernsey milk give it a try. It
is amazing.
